For Sale 1974 Kawasaki Z1A 900. £17950 ono
The bike was fully restored a few years ago and has also had a full engine rebuild. The bike is immaculate throughout and is largely original. It has a twin disc conversion to the front brake with an age-related disc.
The cycle parts of this bike (which is an American import brought into this country in 2013 and registered on an age related 'M' number plate) were fully restored about 4 years ago when the bike had covered 25,823 miles, The machine was then purchase by Chris Rooke motorcycle restorer and Veloce restoration manual author. Chris then carried out a full engine rebuild.
The original restoration of the cycle parts included the following:
Frame repainted
Wheels rebuilt with new rims and polished hubs
High quality repaint of the tank, side panels and tail piece
All electrical items refurbished (not replaced with pattern parts). Note that the clocks have been checked but were left with their original faces on to keep them original
Likewise the ignition switch remains the original 'open' one and has not been replaced with a replica 'closed' one
Original choke lever repaired (these are totally unobtainable)
New Motobatt battery
Electronic ignition fitted
Parts re-chromed as necessary
Full new 4-into-4 exhaust system fitted
Tool kit and handbook added
New rear shock absorbers
New seat
Since then the bike has also been fitted with a new rear chain and sprockets and new Avon Roadrider tyres
New cables throughout
New steering damper
New bolts fitted throughout
New twin disc conversation using new calliper and master cylinder and age related second disc.
The engine rebuild consisted of:
Crankcase, cylinder block and cylinder head vapour blasted and outer casings polished
New cam chain
New front cam chain guide and top roller guide
New camshaft bearings
New valve guide seals
New valves fitted as appropriate (3 new valves fitted)
Cylinders honed
Cam cover polished
Carburettors vapour blasted, plated, polished and fully rebuilt with new jets etc.
New seals throughout
There is a complete photographic record of the engine rebuild available on CD and memory stick along with a copies of all receipts for parts and services during the restoration of the machine along with the Kawasaki restoration manual authored by Chris Rooke that will be included in the sale. This bike was featured in an article on the Z1A in 'Real Classic' magazine a copy of which will be included.
Many of the parts on this bike are original but there are some that are replacement parts. The following are replica parts and not original:
The exhaust system
The wheel rims (un-stamped replacements)
The rear shock absorbers
This bike is therefore a beautiful machine. Not only were the cycle parts restored recently, but it now also has the benefit of a completely rebuilt engine that now runs very sweetly so the bike now runs as well as it looks!
It's a reluctant sale so serious offers only, please. Potential buyers are more than welcome to come and view the bike at any time. Payment by BACS or cash on collection. Any questions please feel free to ask.
